NEW BFnD Release Pre Order available now

Sammi DeVille is a BFnD, and the rock world soon will find this out on its own.
Sammi is the lead singer for BFnD, a new band that also features Hydrogyn founder and guitarist Jeff Westlake. She also is the chief lyricist for the band. The debut album Fire will set the world on ablaze soon.
“Sammi DeVille is powerful,” she said when asked to describe herself. “She really is almost like a succubus. She is the end result of all of the shit I had that I’ve had to deal with in my life.
“It was amazing looking around at the world. I wasn’t happy with what I was seeing, what I was having to endure, what I was seeing other people do. So I decided I needed to call them out and, hopefully, make these people look in the mirror and not at the facades they’ve been trying to keep up.”
Sammi lists a variety of music idols who influenced her, including Lady Gaga, Amy Winehouse, Fiona Apple, Alicia Keys and Stevie Nicks. Those are all strong women who always had something to say.
“Existential is a good way to describe my musical and lyrical style,” Sammy says. “Because we are free, we also are responsible.”
Sammi also uses other terms to describe her musical and lyrical tone.
“The fact is this entire process with BFnD has been so organic,” she says. “It’s just what was birthed out of me because of my experiences. I guess you also could call it vengeful.
“But I also have to admit, it’s very cathartic to create this type of music. It’s almost spiritual to me.”
She says working with and learning from Westlake has been refreshing.
“Everything just flows so nicely between us,” she says. “Again, it’s seems so organic. It’slike we have one brain when it comes to the music, and it all just sort of comes together.”
Westlake says a second BFnD release will be out before the end of the year, and the group already is working on material for a third release for 2025.
Sammi is ready. In fact, she already has the next decade mapped out.
“In five years, I plan to rule the country,” she says. “In 10, I plan to rule the world.”
Jamie Hollow also is an integral part of the band. He plays guitar, bass and percussion, but Westlake calls him “the magician” who ties everything together.
“Music always has been there for me,” Jamie says. “But I didn’t figure out I needed to find a career in music until the last few years. I grew up listening to movie soundtracks and video game soundtracks, so the way music creates a mood is very important to me.”
Jamie’s background includes programming, fashion, theater and writing.
He says this, along with his intuition, helps him be able to tap into elements of despair, suspense, showmanship, emotion, nostalgia, spiritual and even childlike wonder to bring to the band. He says he also provides a touch of modern as well as ancient into the music.
“But it all just flows so perfectly,” he says. “It just translates so well together.”
Jamie comes from a different place musically as Sammi. But together (along with Westlake), they create magic.
“We work really well together,” Jamie says of Sammi. “We bounce off of each other really well. Together, we work on the album concept, the characters, the theme and such. And, we love performing together live.
“It’s so fun making music with her. When she sings, the lyrics come to life. You just feel them and know they’re real.”
Jamie also says working with Westlake is a learning experience.
“There’s not a lot of people in my world who I can talk with about music,” he says. “But I can with Jeff. He knows music, and he knows the music industry. He speaks the language fluently. He’s done it all in his music career, and it’s really cool to be able to learn from him and his experiences.”
